    Abstract

Study of the exposome of cerebral aging in its early stages Summary : Age-related brain diseases such as Alzheimer's disease evolve silently for 15 to 20 years in the brain before the first symptoms appear and the disease is diagnosed. To date, little is known about the factors that contribute to the onset of the disease. Some of these factors, which cannot be modified, are linked to our genetic background others, which can be modified, are due to the exposome, i.e. all the exposures to which we are exposed and which influence our health. This includes external exposures (food, pollutants, etc.), but also the social context, as well as internal environmental (biological) regulations. In order to decipher the role of this environmental component in the earliest stages of brain aging, the ELEANOR team at BPH Inserm U1219 has launched a new population-based study, the B cube cohort, in March 2022, with support from PIA3. The aim is to include 2,000 young senior volunteers (aged 55 and over) from the Bordeaux metropolitan area in a multi-disciplinary analysis of their behavior, biological parameters, microbiota, etc., and link them to their brain function. The aim is to identify the factors and mechanisms which, early in life, enable the brain to adapt to aging or, on the contrary, to lead to the development of cerebral aging pathologies. The team hopes to define early prevention strategies that could delay or avoid these diseases, and ultimately reduce the burden of cerebral aging on society.
